The choice of professionals
The new choice of marathon pros like world champion Alban Lakata. OrthoCell® inlays in the seat area ensure the best pressure distribution - the new OrthoCell® material provides maximum resilience and is also more durable and lighter than gel. Developed especially for men in MTB tours, trail riding and all-mountain areas with anatomically optimized relief channel in the sensitive perineal area and sporty, light AirCell® padding. The flattened tail and the Y-shape enable optimum freedom of movement in the moderately inclined posture typical of MTBs. With friction-reducing sliding flanks for quick position changes
Sitting problems are no longer necessary today. The new Ergon SM Men saddles are specially adapted to the conditions of the male anatomy and optimized for the special features on the mountain bike.
The interdisciplinary development team, consisting of sports scientists, industrial designers, engineers and test riders, has designed a new generation of pressure-relieving men's saddles with the help of current studies and many prototypes. SM Men saddles effectively prevent seating problems such as numbness or discomfort for most types of mountain biking.
Technologies used
In this chapter we explain the technologies that the manufacturer uses in this product.
The delicate nervous system
Due to the deep channel, the perineal area is relieved, blood flow and oxygen supply are not restricted - often the trigger for numbness and other impairments.
Numbness in men when cycling is often caused by high pressure in the sensitive perineal area. The external genitals are seldom the cause of complaints, since they can move away and are not compressed by bony structures.
pressure distribution
It all depends on the right distribution of pressure. With men's saddles, pressure must be shifted to the sit bones and parts of the pubic arches and the perineal area must remain as pressure-free as possible. This is exactly how the relief surface of the new Ergon men's saddles works.
pelvic tilt
The male pelvis is less flexible compared to females.
This means that men sit more upright on the saddle and put more strain on their sit bones. As a result, the transition area between the rear and the nose of the saddle can be kept narrow (Y-shape). This gives you more freedom to pedal.
pubic angle
In contrast to the female anatomy, the pubic bones are much steeper in men and the pubic symphysis is much higher.
The right size
The shape and size of the seat surface of a saddle must match the distance between the rider's sit bones.
Since the pelvic bones taper forward in a V-shape, the saddle must be able to offer the sit bones a sufficiently large contact surface for different sitting positions. The saddle widths are chosen so that the usable seat surface corresponds to the distance between the sit bones.
The more bent over a rider sits, the further forward the sit bones touch the saddle.
